June 24 and 26, 1:00 to 3:30p, - $30
Start your child’s summer vacation off with a fun class learning the basics of photography with professional photographer Leah Haraden. Your child will learn about the artistic side of photography using good composition techniques, available light, and much more. The program will include instruction and hands-on practice with a variety of challenging subjects and in-class assignments. Your child will learn to see the world through their own unique lens.
Digital cameras are recommended, but any type of camera will work—including cell phones. An exhibition of the students’ work will be held in the Merrymeeting Arts Center Gallery on Sept 5 and 6.
Students must provide their own camera. An additional $10 photo printing fee will be payable to the instructor at the end of class so each student will have at least one professionally-printed image to keep.
Tuesday, July 8, 10:00 to 11:00am
$20 + $10 materials
For kids aged 3 to 8!
Kids can craft their own creature using recycled materials, colorful scraps, googly eyes, pipe cleaners and more! Your child can let their imagination run wild as they create a creature as silly, strange, cute, big, or small as they like! Local artist and former teacher Courtney Hutchings will facilitate and encourage the group through the building of their creations. Kids will bring home a wild creature they are proud of, and we will take care of the clean up!

Take & Make Kits
In 2021 Merrymeeting Arts Center and the Bowdoinham Public Library, co-sponsored the "Make & Take" program, with funding provided by the Anonimo Foundation. Our directions were clear. While continuing to adapt to life with Covid, we were to provide art to children and income to artists. Every month of 2021 a different artist designed a project and a kit was assembled, to then be distributed to the community at no charge to any child in the ages of kindergarten through 5th grade. |
