Knotted Rug Making Workshop with Nan Cumming
May 14 and May 28, from 6-8pm. $25
Learn the fun and addictive art of making knotted rag rags (also known as “toothbrush” rugs.) Making rag rugs is a wonderful way to let your creativity run wild with combinations of color and pattern. No sewing skills are required.
If you have a large stash of fabrics you want to use, please bring them along (about 6 yards will be needed)! Rag rugs are also a great way to reuse textiles—old sheets are ideal. If needed, grab bags enough for one 18" x 24" rug can be purchased from the instructor for $10 each. (Contact programs@merrymeetingartscenter.org with questions). Bring your own fabric scissors if you have them.
Week two is optional—an opportunity to ask questions and learn how to finish your piece.
Merrymeeting Arts Center operates on a tiered 'pay what you can' system.
The suggested donation for this class is $25
Pay what you can, and we will take care of the rest. If you would like to support our Heron Fund program, please select the 'pay it forward' option it will cover your tuition and someone else's!

Take & Make Kits
In 2021 Merrymeeting Arts Center and the Bowdoinham Public Library, co-sponsored the "Make & Take" program, with funding provided by the Anonimo Foundation. Our directions were clear. While continuing to adapt to life with Covid, we were to provide art to children and income to artists. Every month of 2021 a different artist designed a project and a kit was assembled, to then be distributed to the community at no charge to any child in the ages of kindergarten through 5th grade. |
